Makoto Yukimura is a Japanese manga artist best known for Vinland Saga, a Viking-inspired historical epic. He started out as an assistant before making his debut with Planetes in 1999, a sci-fi series about space debris collectors that later became an anime. In 2005, he launched Vinland Saga, drawing from real Viking history to create a gripping and detailed story. While Planetes got an anime adaptation, Vinland Saga became his most recognized work, with its anime adaptation handled by Wit Studio for Season 1 and MAPPA for Season 2.
